Decreasing IMS/ESA Below-the-Line Common System Area (CSA)

  • Copy the following members to a dataset that is cataloged in the master catalog in order to load the modules into MLPA when the system is IPLed.

  • Add the following statement to SYS1.PARMLIB(IEALPA00):

    INCLUDE LIBRARY(SYS1.IMS61.MLPALIB) MODULES(DFSAOSF0,DFSCPY40,DFSDPRH0, DFSDYA00,DFSFDLF0,DFSLMGR0,DFSMPOS0,DFSPRH00,DFSSPF00)

  • Point the SYS1.PARMLIB(IEASYS00) member to the correct IEALPA member suffix.

    SYS1.PARMLIB(IEASYS00)

    MLPA=(00,L), SPECIFY IEALPA00

  • Delete the same modules from the IMS region IMS61.RESLIB dataset to eliminate changing region and BMP JCL.

  • IPL the LPAR. If you have eight IMS regions, you will save 8 times the size of the above modules in below-the-line CSA.
